About The Blog

The Why

Over the last few years, I have observed a noticeable and concerning increase in the number of posts I see online that are pushing anti-science narratives and making false claims about everything from vaccines, to whether or not the Earth is flat.

If someone wants to believe that the Earth is flat, well really who are they hurting? But much of the misinformation being shared not just on social media but in mainstream media, news reports and "wellness" blogs is actually dangerous.

When I started seeing more and more blatantly, outrageously false claims from people who the public should be able to trust, people in positions of authority who are making decisions that affect us as a society, I couldn't take it anymore.

I felt compelled to start this blog, with the intention to help the average person navigate the sea of misinformation that is the internet these days. People who are unsure, who want to figure out how to tell the truth from the fiction. I'm not wasting my time trying to convert anti-vaxers or conspiracy theorists, but if you are someone who is simply unsure, who is hearing conflicting information from all sides, I hope that I can help you find clarity.

So Who Am I?

I have chosen to write anonymously for a number of reasons. Firstly, to protect my peace. I don't have any interest in becoming a target for the extremists of the pseudoscience movement. My aim is to be able to share information and educate, in a safe environment.

I am not trying to appeal to authority. I am not proclaiming to be an expert in anything, I am not a doctor or medical professional. I am a university educated person with degrees in science/health related fields. But I am, at the end of the day, an average person with an interest in science and a desire to share information and facts. I am not an "influencer".

So, please know that nothing you will find in this blog constitutes medical advice, and I am not trying to sell you anything. If you have a burning science question you would like me to write about or a topic that you have seen in social media that you think I would be interested in, please feel free to share!
